Fire Suppression
• A Fire Captain manages the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a fire station and the apparatus and personnel assigned to that station.
• Fire Captains supervise a fire and rescue crew and the station apparatus dispatched to emergency scenes, including fire scenes, emergency medical calls, hazardous materials incidents, etc.
• Fire Captains may serve in the capacity of incident commander at emergency incidents.
• Conduct fire safety, home safety, fire extinguisher and pre-fire planning inspections.
• Provide information to the public, install smoke detectors, conduct station tours, visit schools, and participate in public education standbys.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• State or National Registered as an EMT-P or EMT-B certification.
o Current ACLS certification if EMT-P
o Current CPR/AED certification
• Valid driver license with good driving record. DUI within last 5 years is disqualifying.
• Able to work 24 hr shifts.
• Able to work any shift assigned, including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Available to work overtime as assigned and as needed on an emergency basis.
